Plant Description

Description: This non-native wildflower has charming, yellow flowers with reddish-brown eyes. They grow on bushy, multi-stemmed plants with deeply lobed basal leaves. Attractive to butterflies. Drought tolerant once established. Co-exists well with Bahiagras in dry, sandy sites. 

Lifespan: Annual

Light exposure: Full sun to high pine shade

Bloom color: Yellow (with red spot at base of petals)

Bloom season: Mid-spring to very early summer

Height (in bloom): 1 to 1 1/2 feet

Habitat: Dry meadows, pastures, and disturbed areas
