Plant Description

Description: Tall, branching stems with somewhat sparse, linear leaves support a riotous chorus of yellow blooms.  Attractive to butterflies. Best in consistently moist, acid soils. Performs well under garden conditions as long as soil does not dry out.

Height (in bloom): Up to 6 feet

Habitat: Moist - pinelands and disturbed areas

Note: Swamp Sunflower strongly resembles and can hybridize with Florida Sunflower, Helianthus floridanus.  However, Florida Sunflower has rhizomes and Swamp Sunflower does not.
