Plant Description

Description: The upper half to third of a singular stem covered with showy, pinkish, lavender to white feathery flowers; the lower stem having many linear leaves, longer at the base, shorter at the upper portion. Attractive to butterflies. Drought tolerant once established in well-drained, sandy soils.

Light exposure: Full sun to high pine shade

Bloom color: Pinkish lavender; rarely white

Bloom season: Late summer to fall

Height (in bloom): 1 to 4 feet

Habitat: Dry pinelands, disturbed areas
