Plant Description

Description: Bright yellow flowers are borne at the end of stems that rise well above the low growing cluster of lance-shaped leaves. Attractive to butterflies. Relatively drought tolerant once established, but also tolerates slightly moist areas.

Lifespan: Short-lived perennial (semi-evergreen to evergreen); occasionally annual

Light exposure: Full sun to high pine shade

Bloom color: Yellow

Bloom season: Spring

Height (in bloom): 1 to 1 1/2 feet

Habitat: Dry to mesic sandhills (mainly hairy form), disturbed areas, edges of cypress swamps and glades
